Look20 is an eye-break reminder app for the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for 20 seconds.
Why it exists
The 20-20-20 rule is a common suggestion for people who spend long days at a screen. It is easy to agree with and easy to forget, because the moment to take a break is exactly when you are busy. Look20 does the remembering: it keeps the timer, tells you when it is time, and keeps you company for the 20 seconds.
How it works
- One schedule on every screen. Look20 runs on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux, on the web, and as a Chrome and Firefox extension. Signed in with the same email, they share one timer, so each break arrives once, wherever you are working.
- A calm break. A ring counts down and paces your breathing while the sun sets, and a soft chime tells you when to get back to work.
- Control per device. Turn breaks off on one device for a meeting and keep them on the others, or stop them everywhere at once.
- No passwords. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email.
- Twenty-two languages, in the apps and on this site.
What we promise
- No ads, no selling data, and no third-party analytics, in the apps or on this site. We keep only what the app needs to work: your email, your devices and their settings, and your break history. The privacy policy has the details.
- Look20 is paid for by its subscribers. On the web, Dodo Payments handles payment as our merchant of record; in the iPhone app, Apple bills the subscription. See pricing and the refund policy.
- Look20 is a reminder, not a treatment, and it is not a medical device. If your eyes hurt, feel dry for long stretches, or your vision changes, please see an eye-care professional.
